Care Work in Gloucester That Pays Properly
Most care jobs advertise “competitive pay” and hope you will not ask what that means. We will tell you straight: First4Homecare pays the Real Living Wage, not the legal minimum. Your pension is set up from the start, your DBS check is paid for by us, and you get 28 days of paid holiday (pro rata). You also qualify for a Blue Light Card, which gets you discounts at thousands of shops, restaurants and attractions across the UK.
Care work is skilled, responsible work. The pay and the terms should say so.
No Care Experience? That Is Not a Problem
Plenty of our best carers came from retail, hospitality, driving jobs, or raising a family. What they had in common was not a CV full of care roles — it was patience, reliability, and genuine warmth. If that sounds like you, we will handle the rest.
You start with training to Care Certificate standards and shadow shifts alongside experienced colleagues before you ever work alone. After that comes ongoing development — refresher training, equipment training, and the option to work towards NVQ Levels 2 and 3 through government-funded programmes while you earn.
Shifts Built Around Your Life in Gloucester
School runs, studies, a second job, caring for your own family — we plan rotas around real lives. Mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekend rounds are all available, and because our clients are across Gloucester — Quedgeley, Tuffley, Longlevens, Barnwood, Hucclecote and Churchdown — your rounds are planned locally rather than scattered across the county.
Who You Will Be Working With
First4Homecare is a CQC-registered home care provider led by Stacey Cole, our Registered Manager, who brings 17 years of domiciliary care experience and is personally named on our CQC registration. That matters for you as much as for our clients: it means clear care plans, honest rostering, and a manager who has done the job herself and answers the phone when you need her.
You will join a team of trained carers who look out for each other. Every carer is covered by our insurance on every visit, and you are never left to figure things out alone — office support is a phone call away on every shift.
What the Job Actually Involves
You will support older people and adults in their own homes: personal care, medication prompts and reminders, meals, companionship, and help getting out and about. Some visits are 30 minutes, some are sit-in or overnight support. No two days repeat themselves, and you will get to know your regular clients properly — this is not agency work with a different face at every door.

The first step is a short application — it takes a few minutes, and you do not need a polished CV. We read every application and reply to all of them.
