About First4Homecare
Trusted home care in Gloucester, Gloucestershire. CQC Rated Good, trained carers, and real families behind every decision.
We have delivered thousands of hours of compassionate home care since 2016.
First4Homecare is a home care company in Gloucester founded on a simple belief: your parent deserves to feel safe, comfortable and independent in their own home. Since 2016, we have been delivering personalised domiciliary care across Gloucester and nearby areas, helping Gloucestershire families navigate some of life’s most difficult transitions with dignity, warmth and genuine understanding. We are part of a group that includes SW Care (Cheltenham) and brings over a decade of home care expertise to everything we do.
We are proud to be rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, recognised as a Top 20 Home Care Group in the UK 2025, and trusted by the families we serve who have given us a rating of 9.5/10 across 102 verified reviews. Our Registered Manager, Stacey Cole, brings 17 years years of experience in domiciliary care and personal accountability to every care decision we make.
Our Story
First4Homecare was born from witnessing what happens when people age without the right support. We saw the frustration of losing independence, the anxiety that weighs on families, and the gap between what people genuinely needed and what was actually available in Gloucester. That reality changed everything for us.
Rather than accept the status quo, we set out to build a home care provider that genuinely put people first. Not with empty promises or corporate jargon, but with properly trained carers, real qualifications, actual accountability, and an approach that treats every client like family. We invested in digital systems so nothing falls through the cracks. We funded care qualifications ourselves rather than passing costs to our staff. We created time for listening before we ever sent a carer through someone’s front door.
On 2016, First4Homecare opened its doors in Gloucester. From those first few clients, we have grown into a highly rated home care provider with a consistent reputation for reliability, professionalism and genuine care. Our 26 carers are properly trained, personally invested in their clients’ wellbeing, and supported with ongoing professional development throughout the year. Every family review matters to us. Every carer matters. Every promise we make, we keep.
“From the very first phone call, we felt listened to. The team took time to understand Dad’s routine, his likes and dislikes, and matched him with carers who actually became part of our life.” – Family feedback, Gloucester
Our Mission and Values
Our mission is straightforward: to empower every person we support to live the life they choose, in the home they love, with the dignity they deserve. We call it Person-Centred Care Done Right. It guides everything we do, from how we recruit and train carers, to how we write care plans, to how we communicate with families.
Our values are:
- Dignity first. Every person we care for is treated with respect, patience and genuine kindness. We follow their lead, not the other way round.
- Quality without compromise. We support our carers to achieve real qualifications (Care Certificate, NVQ Level 2 and Level 3), because better-trained carers deliver noticeably better care.
- Transparency and trust. Families receive regular updates through our secure digital platform. You always know how your loved one is doing, and you always know exactly who will be walking through their door.
- Flexibility. Care needs change. Our plans adapt, whether you need an extra visit, a different time, or a completely new approach. We are not rigid bureaucrats; we are people solving real problems.
- Local roots, genuine accountability. We are a Gloucester company serving Gloucester families. Our manager is Stacey Cole, who has 17 years years of experience and is personally accountable for every care decision. That accountability shows up in our CQC rating: Good (registration 1-3177038785). See for yourself at our care services overview.
What Makes Us Different
Choosing a home care provider is one of the biggest decisions a family can make. Here is what genuinely sets First4Homecare apart from other care providers in Gloucester and the surrounding area.
We Support Real Qualifications
Every carer completes the Care Certificate (16 core standards) before they attend their first client visit. Beyond that, we fund our carers to continue their care education by completing NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. We invest in professional development because better-trained carers deliver better outcomes, and because we believe the people caring for your parent deserve genuine investment in their futures. This is not the statutory minimum; it is a commitment.
Fully Digitised Care with Real-Time Updates
Our care team uses a secure mobile platform (OpenPass) that provides real-time updates, digital care plans, visit schedules and medication records. This means nothing falls through the cracks, and nothing gets forgotten. It also means your family can stay connected and informed, even from a distance. When your parent’s carer logs their visit, you see exactly what support they received. No guessing. No waiting for phone calls. Just transparency.
Every Carer is Enhanced DBS Checked
Every new employee has to complete an enhanced DBS check before starting, and existing carers are rechecked periodically. We also ensure our carers have appropriate vehicle insurance. These are not just tick-box compliance measures; they reflect how seriously we take our responsibility to keep your parent safe. The person walking through your door has been thoroughly vetted.
Proper Dementia Care Experience
Our carers are trained in dementia care, and as an organisation we support Dementia Friends through the Alzheimer’s Society programme. We provide ongoing professional development through digital training so every carer can recognise changes in behaviour and respond with understanding rather than frustration. If your parent is living with dementia, this training difference truly matters.
Trusted by the NHS and Verified by Real Families
We work in partnership with NHS services (including one of the highest review volumes of any home care provider in Gloucestershire), which reflects the high standards of care we maintain every day. And families back us up: with 9.5/10 across 102 verified reviews. When real people who have trusted us with their parents’ care give those ratings, that is independent proof of what we actually deliver.
Our Awards and Recognition
We believe in earning trust through results, not marketing. Here is what independent bodies and real families say about First4Homecare:
